How to Make two-part Silicone Molds to Cast Figure Sculptures

Tools and Materials

1. rtv-2 silicone rubber: tin-cured silicone or platinum-cured silicone.

2. Release Agent: The application of release agent can prevent the male and female parts of the silicone mold from sticking together and difficult to separate.

3. Clay: If you use platinum-cured silicone, you should choose sulfur-free clay.

4. Polyurethane Resin: Part A and Part B can be cured in about 15 minutes after mixing in a 1:1 ratio.

5. Brush.

6. Mold Frame: You can choose smooth materials, such as building blocks, acrylic board, etc.

Experience suggestion: If there is no vacuum pump, you can reduce the curing agent to extend the operating time when making the silicone mold. When pouring the silicone, slowly drip it against the same position of the master model to let it flow naturally. Both methods are to reduce bubbles.
