Wacker Chemie AG is a German multinational chemical company which was founded in 1914 by Alexander Wacker. The corporation is operating more than 25 production sites in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
It operates through four segments: Silicones, Polymers, Biosolutions and Polysilicon. The Silicones segments provides silane, silicone fluids, emulsions, elastomers, sealants and resins to pyrogenic silicas; the Polymers segment offers a range of polymeric binders and additives along with customized services; the Biosolutions segment serves the food, pharmaceutical, life science and agrochemical industries and produces fermenter cysteine and bioengineered cyclodextrins, among others, and the Polysilicon segment manufactures high-purity polysilicon for the solar technology and semiconductor-electronics industries. Its portfolio focuses on silicone chemistry, polymer chemistry, fine chemicals and biotech products, polysilicon, wafers and hyperpure silicon monocrystals.
The age of silicones began at WACKER more than 70 years ago. In 1947, we became Europe’s first silicone manufacturer; today we are number 2 in the global silicones business.
WACKER SILICONES offers customers our broadest range of products. With two raw materials – silicon metal and methanol – as a basis, more than 2,800 silicone products are made in seven product groups, including silanes, siloxanes, fluids and emulsions, elastomers, resins and pyrogenic silica.
