People who often use silicone rubber know that room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is divided into single-component (RTV) and two-component (RTV-2), so what is the difference between these two types of room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber?

1. RTV Silicone Rubber

RTV silicone rubber, also known as RTV-1 silicone rubber, is usually formulated from base polymers, crosslinkers, catalysts, fillers and additives. The product is packaged in a sealed hose and does not need to add a curing agent during curing. It can be cured by absorbing moisture in the air. The use process is extremely convenient.

RTV silicone rubber can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -76-392℉ after curing, has excellent electrical insulation performance and chemical stability, can play the role of moisture-proof, ozone resistance, weather aging resistance to sealed products, and has good adhesion to a variety of metal and non-metal materials.

RTV-1 silicone rubber is mainly used for the coating of electronic components and electrical equipment, and plays the role of insulation, moisture-proof and shock-proof for sealing materials, and can also be used as the surface protection material for semiconductor devices, and as sealing and gap-filling materials and elastic adhesive, etc.

2. RTV-2 Silicone Rubber

RTV-2 silicone rubber is a two-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, the package is divided into part A and part B. When used, AB components are mixed in a certain ratio before curing. rtv-2 silicone rubber is divided into two types of condensation and addition, condensation silicone rubber part B is organic tin curing agent, and addition silicone rubber uses platinum catalyst. rtv-2 silicone rubber can be deeply vulcanized and is not limited by thickness.

RTV-2 silicone potting compounds is widely used for the encapsulation of electronic components, which plays the role of thermal conductivity, flame retardant, sealing, moisture-proof and shock resistance to the potted components, etc. RTV-2 mold silicone rubber has excellent mold release and fluidity, and small shrinkage rate, good tear strength, and can be used repeatedly, so it is widely used in the production of silicone molds for cultural stones, concrete, crafts, toys, parts and other products.
